£65,000–£80,000 per year | Hybrid, Warrington | Full-time, permanent | 37.5 hours per week

About Synextra

Synextra is an independent Azure specialist supporting regulated UK businesses, including law firms, mortgage lenders and financial services organisations. We’re small by design, with a focus on technical depth, customer service and taking responsibility for the environments we run.

Alongside our managed cloud services, our AI engineering team builds agent products for those same customers. We’re looking for an experienced Azure engineer who enjoys solving difficult operational problems and delivering engineering work alongside developers.

The role

You’ll work across our cloud engineering team, client projects and AI engineering team, combining deep Azure troubleshooting with planned development and automation work.

Our customers run a wide variety of environments in Azure, from virtual machines, networking and identity through to managed application services and modern cloud platforms. You’ll be someone our wider cloud engineering team can turn to for the most complex or significant Azure issues—helping investigate faults, restore service and understand what needs to change to prevent a repeat.

Alongside that operational responsibility, you’ll contribute to development sprints: building environments in Terraform, improving deployment pipelines, implementing monitoring and developing the platforms that support our AI products.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys that breadth. You’re comfortable getting into the detail of a difficult customer incident, sharing your expertise with other engineers and taking planned work through implementation, review, testing and release.

What you’ll be doing

Supporting customers and our cloud engineering team

Act as a senior technical escalation point for complex and high-impact Azure incidents across customer environments.

Troubleshoot across infrastructure and application services, including compute, networking, DNS, identity, storage and service dependencies.

Work alongside other engineers to investigate faults, restore service and communicate clear findings and next steps.

Follow significant incidents through to root cause, turning findings into improvements in configuration, monitoring, automation and operational guidance.

Share your expertise through practical troubleshooting, technical reviews and mentoring.

Participate in an on-call rota as part of delivering production systems.

Delivering projects and sprint work

Build and maintain Azure environments using Terraform, including reusable modules, state management and drift remediation.

Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.

Work with developers to refine requirements, break work into manageable tasks and deliver changes through pull requests, testing and release.

Automate recurring tasks and replace manual processes with dependable, repeatable solutions.

Contribute to technical designs and help make practical decisions about reliability, security, performance and cost.

Produce clear documentation and handovers so the wider team can confidently support what you build.

Working with our AI engineering team

Build and operate the Azure environments supporting our AI products and customer deployments.

Develop deployment pipelines across development, testing and production, including isolated client environments.

Implement networking, identity, secrets management and access controls.

Improve monitoring, alerting and visibility into service performance and cost, including AI consumption.

Help developers investigate production issues and turn operational experience into better engineering practices.

What you’ll bring

Strong hands-on Azure experience across both IaaS and PaaS, with a track record of diagnosing complex production faults.

A solid understanding of how compute, networking, DNS, identity and storage interact, and confidence investigating problems that cross those boundaries.

Practical experience with Azure application services such as App Service, Container Apps, Functions or API Management.

Experience writing and maintaining Terraform, including modules, state management and safely changing existing environments.

Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, and working through Git branches, pull requests and code review.

The ability to write useful automation in PowerShell, Python or another scripting language.

Clear communication with customers and colleagues, sound judgement during incidents and the ability to deliver agreed engineering work independently.

You don’t need to have used every Azure service. We’re interested in the depth of your understanding, how you investigate unfamiliar problems and the work you’ve delivered.

Useful additional experience

Working in an MSP, consultancy, SaaS business or development team.

Supporting regulated customers or operating across multiple customer environments.

Azure Monitor, Application Insights, KQL or OpenTelemetry.

Multi-tenant architecture and tenant isolation.

Deploying or operating AI and LLM-based services.

Relevant Microsoft certifications, such as AZ-104, AZ-305 or AZ-400. We’ll fund relevant certifications you want to work towards.

How we work

Customer support and planned engineering delivery are both substantial parts of this role. You’ll work with colleagues across the teams to agree priorities, communicate when urgent work affects delivery and follow tasks through to a proper conclusion.

We value people who stay calm when something breaks, ask good questions and share what they learn. Your contribution will be visible in the reliability of our customer environments, the quality of what we deliver and the capability of the engineers around you.

What we offer

A salary of £65,000–£80,000, depending on relevant experience and capability.

Hybrid working based at our Birchwood Park office in Warrington.

A permanent, full-time role working 37.5 hours per week.

Funded relevant Microsoft certifications.

Varied technical work across customer environments, cloud projects and AI products.

Direct access to leadership and the opportunity to influence technical decisions and working practices.

👋 About Us

Every year, hundreds of thousands of homeowners could move but don’t, and homes that could sell never reach the market. The property market is slower and more closed than it should be. Homesearch is building the intelligence layer that gets it moving, connecting people, homes and agents through data and AI. Our vision is a fully connected, faster, more open property market.

We’re one of the UK’s leading PropTech platforms for estate agents, helping them win more listings, understand their local market, and turn existing contacts into new instructions. Our products, including HAILO and ReContact, are picking up real momentum and fast becoming tools agents know and trust. We’re a trusted partner to Reapit, Dezrez, Rex, MRI and other leading CRMs, and we’re on our way to One Homesearch: a single, unified platform rather than a collection of tools.

💼 About the Role

Each of our products runs on property data. Billions of structured data points across properties, addresses, listings, agents and market events, plus hundreds of millions of images, floorplans and other property assets. It arrives through multiple feeds and acquisition methods, each with different freshness, completeness and reliability, and it changes constantly. It serves both live customer products and our AI and ML workloads. That data platform is the company.

The hard part is making that trustworthy: resolving inconsistent records into reliable property, address, listing and agent entities, keeping it fresh as the market moves, and serving it economically to live products, search and production AI from one platform.

You’ll join a strong team of engineers and data scientists to build and scale the next generation of Homesearch’s data and AI platform. Working with large property datasets, you’ll automate and improve data pipelines, strengthen our platform foundations, and build reliable, high-performance services. Your work will help the wider team ship safely and quickly, while enabling our data scientists to develop production-grade AI models that power products used by estate agents across the UK.

You’ll sit in our Data & AI team, working alongside two data engineers and reporting to Dan Guo, our Head of AI and Data, who worked on AI, data and Copilot at Microsoft and led data at SwiftKey before joining us. You’ll work with him closely on the architecture: challenging decisions, shaping them, and turning ambitious AI ideas into systems that hold up in production.

This is a hands-on role. You’ll be in the code, the pipelines, the databases and the cloud infrastructure, and you’ll have real say in what the platform becomes.

🔥 What You’ll Do

Build high-performance data and AI platforms behind our property technology services, spanning cloud infrastructure, data pipelines and production AI models.

Work hands-on across the codebase, data pipelines, databases and cloud infrastructure to improve performance, scalability and reliability.

Assess existing systems against real requirements, including performance, freshness, reliability, security and cost, and shape a practical plan for change.

Modernise constrained legacy components incrementally, behind documented interfaces, without disrupting production.

Improve how we acquire, ingest and serve data across feeds with different formats, freshness and reliability.

Define canonical data models, shared identifiers and data contracts for the entities everything depends on: properties, addresses, listings, agents.

Make large volumes of property assets, including images and floorplans, usable by our products and AI workloads.

Build automated testing, deployment, observability, recovery and rollback into the platform.

Create reusable components, templates and documented patterns so other engineers can work independently and safely.

Share what you know through documentation, code review and hands-on work with our data, software and AI/ML engineers.

Work closely with data scientists, product teams and senior leaders to translate business priorities into high-performance data pipelines and platform capabilities that deliver measurable value.

😊 About You

You write, test, debug and explain production code, in Python, Java, Go, Scala, C#, TypeScript or similar, and your SQL and relational modelling are strong. You stay accountable for code you built with AI assistance.

You’ve built and run modern data platforms: ingestion, transformation, orchestration, batch or streaming, and data serving, with a real grasp of operational databases, object storage, lakehouses and data contracts.

You have deep production experience on at least one major public cloud (AWS, Azure or GCP), using Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, automated testing, containers or serverless.

You’ve modernised legacy systems incrementally, made architecture decisions you can defend with evidence, and built patterns that cut manual work and reduce reliance on any one person.

You own production reliability: monitoring, alerting, incident investigation, recovery, performance and cloud cost.

You’ve handled security, governance and data quality properly: access management, secrets, encryption, audit logging, lineage and cataloguing.

You’ve supported data scientists and ML engineers, and you’re comfortable with large datasets.

You use AI-assisted engineering tools where they improve development, testing, documentation or troubleshooting, while remaining accountable for the quality, security and correctness of what you ship.

You’re collaborative and you listen. You respect what people already know about the systems and the domain.

You’re open to changing your mind when the evidence changes, and open to learning things you haven’t done before. We rate this above years of experience.

You take initiative, hold a high bar, and think architecturally rather than only executing tasks.

You’ve worked at real data volume, somewhere that had to scale, and you’re comfortable when priorities and constraints move.

Extra points for:

Building or running web-scraping and data-acquisition systems.

Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL or PHP based services.

Supporting data platforms used by both live products and AI/ML workloads.

Property, listing or other entity-resolution data.

Search and indexing: Elasticsearch, OpenSearch or similar.

LLMs, RAG, AI agents and the major AI application frameworks.

✨ How We Work

Our values run through everything we do. Remove Friction: make everything seamless. Stay Curious: ask, learn, improve. Own It: take the lead, own the result. Raise the Bar: think big, deliver value. We’re high performers who care about the mission and each other. High standards, open communication, and no room for ego or politics.

⛳️ Compensation, Perks & Benefits

Competitive salary, plus a performance bonus and share options, so you share in the upside you create.

25 days holiday plus bank holidays.

An office with a free on-site gym, free yoga and gym classes, sauna and regular events.

A little about us

incident.io is the AI software reliability platform trusted by engineering teams at Netflix, Etsy, and 2,000+ companies who can’t afford downtime.

The stakes are real, the talent is insane, and somehow it’s a genuinely lovely place to work. We all pull our weight, go the extra mile, and put in the bit of magic most companies don’t have time for, all while having fun and never taking ourselves too seriously.

We’ve raised $96 million from Index Ventures, Insight Partners, and Point Nine, and we’re growing fast. There’s never been a better time to join.

The role in one line

Being a Platform Engineer at incident means being the detective every other engineer wishes they could clone, tracing a mystery from a flaky load balancer to a bad Terraform diff, turning “why is this broken” into “here’s exactly why, and here’s how we stop it happening again.”

What that looks like day to day

As a Platform Engineer at incident, you own everything that isn’t the product itself: infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, databases, and the systems that let our product engineers ship fast without thinking twice about what’s underneath them. It’s a genuinely varied role. One day you’re tracing a scaling issue through a database, the next you’re rethinking a Terraform module, the next you’re pairing with a product engineer to unblock something that’s been quietly slowing them down.

Right now, scaling is front and centre. We’ve got more product engineers building more of the product than ever, and more customers putting real load on it, so the work you do directly shapes whether that growth feels smooth or painful.

You’ll work closest with our product engineers, day in and day out. You’re part of a small, three-person platform team, which means your fingerprints are on everything. There’s no hiding in a big team here, and no waiting for someone else to pick things up.

Like the rest of engineering, we lean on tools like Claude Code and Cursor to move faster, not as a gimmick, but because it genuinely changes what’s possible day to day.

Who you are

You take real ownership. You don’t wait to be told what to fix, you see the thing that’s slowing everyone down and you go fix it.

You build tooling like a product engineer would. You think about the person using it, not just whether it technically works.

You’re genuinely great at observability. You don’t just set up dashboards because you’re told to, you want to actually see what’s happening in the system, and you get restless when you can’t.

You’ve got a knack for unpicking confounding issues, the kind where the bug could be in the app, the database, the load balancer, or a Terraform file, and you’re the person who enjoys following the thread until you find it.

You care, properly, about making other engineers’ lives better. The measure of a good day for you isn’t just “it works,” it’s “that was annoying for people, and now it isn’t.”

You keep half an eye on what’s new in security, cloud, and developer experience, not because you have to, but because you’d be reading about it anyway.

You’re comfortable with high autonomy. Nobody’s going to hand you a detailed spec, you’re trusted to figure out what needs doing and just do it.

Supporting you

We work hard and we think life outside work matters just as much. Our benefits pack is built to support both.

Private medical insurance. Seriously good cover – we want you and the people you love to be looked after.

Competitive annual leave. Showing up at your best requires switching off, and we make sure you have time to do that.

First Friday of every month off. Yes, seriously.

Enhanced pension. We put real money in, because future-you deserves better than an afterthought.

Meaningful equity. We’re rapidly scaling, and everyone who helps shape the outcome should share in it.

Unlimited AI spend. For everyone, not just engineers. We’re all-in on AI across the company, and we expect you to be too.

Generous parental leave. The early days with a new baby matter more than anything we’re doing here, and we want you to be present for them.

Two budgets that have your back. £1000 to invest in your setup, £500 a year to invest in yourself.

It’s an incredibly exciting time to work in energy. Join us on our mission to improve the lives of ONE BILLION humans within the decade and shape a cleaner, better future for everyone.

KrakenFlex

The energy industry is undergoing the largest transformation since industrialisation at an unprecedented rate of change and we are positioning ourselves to be at the heart of that change.

Our aim is to be the leading global provider of solutions that enable customers to release £30bn of value per annum from distributed energy resources (DERs). We are building a Software as a Service (SaaS) subscription business with a global addressable market of £2.4 billion per annum, by digitally connecting hundreds of thousands of DERs with energy markets.

We have already attained a market leading position and KrakenFlex is a recognised thought leader and innovator in the industry.

We’re looking for a skilled and pragmatic Lead Platform, DevOps, or Cloud Infrastructure engineer to join and help lead our growing team.

Specifically, we’re looking for a Lead Platform Engineer to manage a team of 5-8 Platform Engineers and help us build and scale Kraken’s AWS cloud foundation, which forms the basis for our market-leading grid flexibility and customer management products. We’re an innovative and customer-focussed company, helping to drag the utilities industry into the 21st century, using a mixture of serverless and containerised technologies in AWS.🚀 What you’ll own

Have ownership of a functional team within Platform Engineering, working closely with the Director and Heads of Platform Engineering to define strategic objectives and team direction

Lead delivery of major initiatives on clear timelines

Partner effectively in the wider Platform Engineering team to deliver outcomes

Build a strong culture of open communication where teammates can ask questions without fear, promoting a positive and inclusive team environment.

Live the Kraken culture and values, and be a role model for your team

Line-manage a group of Platform engineers

Set clear performance expectations and goals for team members

Regularly review individual and team performance, offering actionable insights and constructive feedback to support and grow team members

Deliver technical improvements such as small features and bug fixes, as well as larger projects with the team

Support team delivery through code reviews, technology research and architectural guidance

Drive and improve the non-functional elements of production systems owned by your team

🧠 What you’ll bring to the party

Great experience with AWS. We use a lot of different AWS services and not just the standard few, so you should be comfortable with serverless, managed, and containerised services.

Record of successfully and consistently delivering critical path projects, on time and at scale

Excellent communication, with a focus on doing this asynchronously across multiple timezones and countries

Meticulous organisation and planning skills

Experience of mentoring and coaching a team to perform at a high-level of quality

Experience managing and supporting large-scale internet-facing distributed systems, for millions of customers

Knowledge of security best-practices, security and CI/CD tooling, and methodologies

Previous experience in leading technical delivery for small, highly-autonomous teams

Track-record of effective collaboration with other teams and departments to drive holistic outcomes

A proactive, innovative mindset with the ability to drive continuous improvement

Previous experience working in a remote-first asynchronous team providing 24×7 support

Familiarity with some of our tech stack:

Typescript, python, or similar programming languages

Terraform, or a similar infrastructure-as-code tool
