Lead Frontend Web Engineer

Location: London, UK (Hybrid)
Salary: £70,000 – £80,000 + equity

We’re looking for a seasoned and driven Lead Frontend Web Engineer to head up our growing team of three, leading the development of cutting-edge, user-facing applications for millions of global users. If you’re passionate about building secure, scalable, and high-performing web products, we want to hear from you.

As the lead, you’ll work closely with cross-functional product teams to shape the future of our web experience. You’ll champion modern frontend practices using tools like Next.js, TypeScript, gRPC Gateway, and Protocol Buffers, and drive quality, innovation, and performance throughout the development lifecycle.

You’ll also take ownership of muzz.com, guiding SEO and localisation initiatives as we continue to expand internationally.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading and mentoring a team of frontend engineers, promoting best practices and clean, maintainable code

  • Collaborating with product and design teams to build and optimise new features for our users

  • Maintaining high standards in code quality, testing, and documentation

  • Improving web performance through deep dives and data-driven investigation

  • Managing and enhancing CI/CD workflows for web deployments

  • Troubleshooting across distributed systems and collaborating with backend teams using Go and gRPC

  • Driving the roadmap for muzz.com, with a focus on SEO and localisation

  • Scaling the frontend team in line with company growth

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience solving complex frontend challenges

  • 3+ years working on production-ready web apps using modern frameworks like Next.js

  • Advanced proficiency in TypeScript, with a strong focus on safety, testing, and maintainability

  • Solid understanding of web protocols such as HTTP and WebSockets

  • Comfortable taking projects from concept to deployment in fast-moving environments

  • A self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and strong communication skills

  • Excited to learn, iterate quickly, and push the limits of frontend web

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: Next.js, React, TypeScript, Cypress, Storybook

  • Backend: gRPC, Protocol Buffers, Go, Python

  • Tooling: Node.js, CI/CD pipelines
