Job Description

Senior Electronics Design Engineer job in Cambridge – £65K – £70K

Hexwired have partnered with an established electronics manufacturer in the Cambridge area who are looking to add a Senior Electronics Design Engineer to their R&D team. They are looking for an individual with experience with schematic and PCB layout, analogue and high-speed digital design to bring their expertise to their team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Electronics Design & Development: Design and support electronic systems, covering schematic and PCB layout, high-voltage circuits, power supplies, analogue and high-speed digital circuits. A strong understanding of safety, EMC, thermal management, and mechanical integration is essential.
  • Software Development: Writing software in languages such as VHDL, C, and Assembler, with experience in Linux being a plus.
  • Testing & Validation: Conducting testing, validation, prototyping, debugging, and modelling to ensure robust and reliable designs.
  • Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: Working closely with other Electronics Engineers to share expertise, participate in design reviews, and contribute to problem-solving.
  • Production & Supplier Coordination: Engaging with production teams and suppliers to qualify new components, address obsolescence, and mitigate supply chain challenges.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Producing high-quality technical reports and documentation with strong attention to detail.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Degree in Electronics Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a relevant industry.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of electronics principles, system integration, analytical problem-solving, and CAD-based design for integrating electronics, mechanics, and software.
