Data Engineer job in London – DOE

This Data Engineer role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with large-scale data systems and wants to build high-performance pipelines that power real-world financial intelligence. You’ll work across both platform and product-focused teams, solving challenges in distributed data processing and contributing to critical infrastructure used globally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain distributed data pipelines using Scala, Spark, and cloud technologies
- Design and optimise data ingestion and transformation workflows across blockchain and traditional datasets
- Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and product teams to deliver scalable data systems
- Ensure performance, accuracy, and reliability across high-volume data processing environments
- Evaluate trade-offs across scalability, cost, and system performance
- Contribute to the full lifecycle of data platform development, from design to deployment and optimisation
- Improve pipeline observability, automation, and overall system resilience
Tech Stack:
- Scala, Spark, Databricks
- AWS, Airflow, Kubernetes, Terraform
- Functional programming principles
Key Skills & Experience:
- Experience building and maintaining distributed data pipelines
- Knowledge of big data frameworks such as Spark or Databricks
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Understanding of data architecture, scalability, and system reliability
- Strong coding practices with a focus on clean, efficient, and well-tested code
Desirable Experience:
- Knowledge of streaming data processing concepts
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or similar tools
- Interest or experience in blockchain or cryptocurrency technologies
- Exposure to AI or automation within data systems
