Senior Embedded Systems Engineer job in Edinburgh – DOE
Ready to take your career to the next level in audio technology? Join Shure’s Product Development team in Edinburgh and play a key role in building next-generation wireless audio systems, working at the intersection of embedded software, hardware, and wireless communication.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop and optimise embedded software connecting hardware, firmware, and wireless technologies for high performance and reliability
- Integrate and refine wireless communication protocols within software systems
- Debug embedded software, particularly within wireless environments
- Work with operating systems such as Linux, FreeRTOS, and Zephyr
- Collaborate closely with hardware and wireless engineers to deliver cohesive system designs
- Support development across both wired and wireless networking environments
- Contribute to system architecture using UML and established development methodologies
- Review code and designs, and support or mentor junior engineers where needed
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 6+ years of experience in embedded systems development
- Strong experience with wireless protocols such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, or DECT
- Knowledge of networking protocols including Ethernet and TCP/IP
- Proficiency in C++ and object-oriented design for embedded systems
- Ability to design scalable, maintainable software architectures
- Experience working with embedded operating systems and hardware integration
- Strong analytical thinking and sound engineering judgement
