Founding Engineer job in London – DOE

Join a team redefining how people live, rent, and move around the world. The Flex is building a seamless, tech-driven rental experience designed to be instant, flexible, and frictionless—powered by intelligent automation and a global-first mindset.

This isn’t a typical engineering role. You’ll be shaping the technical foundation of a fast-growing platform, working across the stack, and building real systems that power bookings, payments, and global property operations at scale.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design and build core platform architecture from the ground up, covering bookings, payments, availability, and guest experience
  • Develop full-stack systems including web apps, APIs, automation workflows, and cloud infrastructure
  • Create event-driven systems to automate operational processes and improve efficiency
  • Integrate with key platforms such as Airbnb, Stripe, Hostaway, and Twilio
  • Deploy, monitor, and iterate on production systems with a focus on performance and reliability
  • Solve complex, real-world challenges like real-time booking sync, pricing intelligence, and operational dashboards
  • Define engineering standards, best practices, and contribute to building a strong technical culture

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience building production-grade systems (backend or full-stack)
  • Comfortable working across APIs, web applications, and cloud infrastructure
  • Experience with modern frameworks such as FastAPI, React, and AWS (or similar)
  • A bias toward action, with the ability to ship quickly and iterate based on feedback
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
  • Strong ownership mindset with a focus on delivering real impact
